How it all started

My name is Irwin and I'm an Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier.

It was in May 2010, I was still in my mother's womb, as my family came to know our breed "The Wheaten".

After I was born, and about 14 days old, I was finally able to see my mom.

But "oh jé" she looked very different as me. She had the most beautiful soft hair with lots of beautiful light brown waves.

The fact is that when we are born , Wheaten, are dark brown or almost black.

Ofcourse I was hoping that I also get that beautiful hair like Mom, one day.

However, this could take until my third or even fourth birthday. But until then, I'd still get many different colors and my hair texture would also change. When I was about nine months old my adult hair started to grow.

We have simple hair without undercoat that needs to be cut with scissors. Therefore I must be regularly brushed and combed. 1-2 times per week, this is very important otherwise, get my coat tangles and it is difficult to get out. And that hurts, I tell you.

After a few weeks, more and more Moms and Dads visit us. It was great because everyone was playing with us and caressing us. We Wheaten love the people and we want always to be in the near of our people. We are real family dogs.

Also my new family came to visit us regularly.

Then the time came and I moved in with my new family.

At my arrival in my new home, first of all I looked in all rooms and of course the garden, because you have to know, we are very curious! After a few days the friends of my family wanted to see me. Immediately I had to let them know that I was there and gave a warning by soft barking.

It was, after all; my house, my garden and my family.

But as soon as the friends of my family were in the house, they were greeted cheerfully.

My people then explained first about the breed the Wheaten and that we haver a good-natured character and how great we are and a lot of more things about the Wheaten. That was exciting for me, because now I finally know that I grow up to 48cm or maybe more or less!

Well, and so began my life with my new family
